March 20 Ohio Primary Election Alert - Statewide Results

All Eyes on Ohio’s Primary Election

Ohio held a much anticipated early Primary Election this year with unusually low turnout. Some counties saw the lowest number of votes cast in a presidential primary in decades. While the Republican and Democratic nominees for President were resolved before yesterday’s election, Ohio voters still determined contested primary elections for Congress, the Ohio House and Senate, the Ohio Supreme Court, and several county officeholders.

Considered to be one of the most expensive and important US Senate races across the country, the three-way battle for the Republican nomination to challenge incumbent Democratic US Senator Sherrod Brown in the November election was ultimately won by Cleveland-businessman Bernie Moreno. This is a particularly important race because the outcome of the upcoming General Election may ultimately determine whether the Republicans or Democrats control the US Senate in 2025.

In the Ohio Legislature, there several upsets with five incumbent House members, four Republicans and one Democrat, losing their seats.
