Expanded Testing in Congregate Care Settings:
Governor DeWine announced a new effort beginning this week to increase testing in Ohio’s 960 nursing homes. Fourteen (14) Congregate Care Unified Response Teams with ten (10) National Guard members will work closely with local and state health departments and the Ohio Department of Medicaid to begin testing in nursing homes this week.
The goal of the Congregate Care Unified Response Team is to test all nursing home staff, starting with the 200 nursing homes that have a history of the COVID-19 virus. The National Guard will administer the testing. Nursing home residents will be tested based on a clinical and medical assessment. It is possible that all residents in a nursing home will be tested, or testing may be limited to a particular wing or floor of the nursing home.
Governor DeWine also announced that testing will begin this week at each of Ohio’s eight (8) Developmental Disability Centers.
