County-by-County Update:
A county breakdown outlining the presence of COVID-19 in all of Ohio's 88 counties can be found on the Ohio Public Health Advisory System's website.
Vaccination Timeline:
This week
Beginning today, Ohioans aged 80+ are receiving the COVID-19 vaccination. Each provider will begin administering vaccines the day after they receive their shipment. All vaccines must be distributed within seven days.
Week of January 25
Vaccinations are anticipated to begin for those Ohioans with severe congenital, developmental, or early-onset medical disorders and who have a developmental or intellectual disability. The County developmental disabilities board will reach out to this population to coordinate receipt of the vaccine.
Week of February 1
Vaccinations are anticipated to begin for those ages 70 and up following the same process outlined above.
Week of February 8
Vaccinations are anticipated to begin for those ages 65 and up following the same process outlined above.
Week of February 15
People who have any of the conditions contained in phase 1B and do not have an intellectual or developmental disability will be eligible to receive the vaccine. Further guidance will be forthcoming as we get closer to that date.
School District Vaccinations:
ODH is working directly with schools to determine what the vaccination of school personnel will look like at the local level.
As of today, 96% of public school districts have committed to returning to school at least partially in-person by March 1st.
For these districts, the state designated a local Educational Service Center as a working partner. The Educational Service Centers are communicating this week with each school district to confirm final plans.
School districts are choosing either a retail pharmacy partner, secured by the state, or a local partnership to administer the vaccines.
Administration of vaccines will happen through the school-provider partnership and begin the week of February 1st for the first dose and continue over the month. Additional details will be available next week.
Focus on Cybersecurity:
Lt. Governor Husted discussed the measures that Ohio is taking to ensure cybersecurity is a priority as we build digital services for our citizens and as we train Ohioans for IT careers.
Ohio’s CloudSmart initiative:
Ohio is leveraging the cloud as we innovate existing and new technology solutions. Ohio adopted a cloud first approach which requires agencies, boards and commissions to consider the cloud first when upgrading or replacing systems.
Ohio needs additional cybersecurity talent to prepare the next generation to fill jobs. To that end, the Lt. Governor highlighted over 100 IT industry-recognized credentials offered at high schools across Ohio. Most of these credentials can be completed in one school year. A complete list of the credentials can be found here.
Additionally, 45 institutions of higher education offer almost 100 programs focused on cybersecurity. These programs range from short-term certificate training to master’s programs. More information about these programs can be found here.
Ohio Cyber Range:
The cyber range allows students, learners, and employers to practice cybersecurity response in a safe and low stake learning environment.
The range also supports curriculum development, internship programs and more. Additional information can be found here.
