After more than twenty years of experience in government affairs and political management, Matt has established himself as one of the top political operatives in Ohio through his management of a host of winning political campaigns, including two of the largest landslide victories in Ohio history: George Voinovich’s reelection to the US Senate in 2004, and John Kasich’s reelection as Ohio Governor in 2014.

In addition to his extensive campaign experience, Matt previously served as Director of Legislative Affairs and Senior Policy Advisor to Governor John Kasich. In this role, he worked hand-in-hand with the legislature helping pass many of Governor Kasich’s hallmark pieces of legislation, including his first operating budget that balanced the largest revenue shortfall in Ohio history and the authorization language creating JobsOhio.

After guiding Kasich’s reelection campaign, Matt served as Executive Director for New Day for America, the Super PAC organized to support his presidential campaign. In his role at New Day, Matt spearheaded a ground-breaking reimagining of the role of Super PACs in presidential politics by building active state-based grassroots organizations in nearly 30 states and shouldering the bulk of the paid-media and voter contact efforts made during the campaign.

In 2018, Matt helped direct the independent expenditure efforts on behalf of Governor Mike DeWine where he worked with the Republican Governor’s Association and DeWine’s Super PAC to develop paid advertising strategies while simultaneously coordinating independent grassroots activities.

Matt provides our clients with governmental affairs, communications and lobbying services, working with trade associations, corporations, and organizations before the Ohio General Assembly, executive level agencies, boards, commissions, the Office of the Governor, other Ohio Constitutional offices, and JobsOhio. Matt enjoys strong relationships with Ohio’s government leaders and stakeholders around Capitol Square.

He graduated from The Ohio State University and received his law degree from Capital University Law School, graduating with honors.
